If you have to travel for work, you might be used to sitting in an airport, sleeping on an airplane, or just sitting in your car driving. Day after day it can be tough to get used to, but the change of position, and different sleeping scenarios can also be the cause of some neck pain and discomfort. Here are some tips to protecting your neck if you have to travel on a daily or weekly basis.
Tip #1 - Use a travel neck pillow when in a seated position on an airplane. This week keep your cervical spine supported and keep your neck from bopping all over the place. If you do not have a travel pillow, roll up a blanket and place that behind your neck. The neck support that you recieve can prevent you from ending your trip with a stiff neck. These days you can actually buy a u-shaped neck pillow and also fiber filled pillows that will fit into a travel suitcase.
Tip #2 - Do stretching and strengthening exercises for your neck
Tip #3 - Get Adjusted regularly by your chiropractor.Being in weird positions can cause misalignments in your neck as well as muscle spasm and trigger points that can be very painful.
