I am going to post this question today, because it is a commonly asked question at the Neck Pain Relief Shop. In fact, every week I get a customer thats asks me this question.
The answer is NO. Do not buy a king size pillow because you sleep on a king size bed. Imagine, you are 5 ft and you sleep on a king size bed- a king size pillow would be too much for your neck, and you would most likely wake up in pain because you are getting too much support in your neck. On top of that, your neck is going to be forward, creating a "stiff neck in the morning" situation. On the other hand, if you are 6'0 ft and built like a football player, SURE- the king size would be perfect for you. The king size pillow is going to have greater length and width. It is going to be stuffed more (about 25% more fiber than the standard medium size pillow).
A neck pillow should be purchased based on your body size. I will use the traction pillow as an example. It is one of the more popular pillows sold at the Neck Pain Relief Shop. It comes in two sizes: medium and large. The large traction pillow for someone over 6 ft or taller, regardless of body size.
I do have some customers who just like to sleep on larger pillows. Fine, then in these cases order the larger pillow. Just make sure you are getting the right neck pillow based on your size. It makes for a better sleep at night !
