Hello NPQ,
I was wondering if you could recommend a pillow for me to purchase. I am a petite woman (5' 2") and was multiple car accidents in the past 4 years where I go severe whip lash. It has caused my left trap to be permanently tight and the pain radiates up my neck. Anyway, I was doing fine until recently, I keep on bad stiffness after sleeping where I can't move my neck much. The bad part is that it is hard to find a pillow that will help align my spine because most pillows are made for taller people. Anyway, I do appreciate your help.
- Thanks, Donnatella
Donnatella, thank you for your email. I have two pillows that I can recommend for you. You want to get a pillow that is going to help support the natural cervical spine. Neck Rolls and Contoured pillows are important, especially after a traumatic event such as a whiplash.
First, I would recommend the Arc4life Small Linear Gravity Pillow. The dimensions of this pillow are 20"x15". It has a square center and has two neck rolls on it, one firmer, one softer. The thickness of this pillow is around 2-3".
The 2nd Pillow I would recommend would be the Arc4life natural alignment pillow. This is a softer pillow but with dimensions that are of a medium standard size pillow. Dimensions are: 24”x17”.
As you can see both are contoured neck pillows, and I think this is important for your cervical spine. Being 5'2", you don't want to get an overly large pillow, as that will push your head and neck forward, creating more tension and muscle spasms in your neck. Both of these pillow will help to relax the muscles of your neck and ease the stiffness gradually.
Hope this helps you out. Please email back if you have any questions.
