What they have discovered is that many of of us don't necessarily not want to sleep but rather don't want to stop what they're doing. This can be a problem because sleeping at all different times and different amounts of time can throw your body off...
We really are creatures of habit. Our body gets used to certain things. When we constantly are too busy to go to bed at a similar time and get our consistent 7 hours, your body will feel it.
For example if this week your are going to bed at all different times ( mostly well after midnight) and you still have a full schedule each day, that begins at 8am, our body isn't fully energized and redy-to-go.
Here's another example: there was a couple times I tried to pull an all nighter studying for a test. I learned that I was much better off, and my outcomes, were better when I went to bed and maybe just awoke earlier to study.
