I myself am a bit guilty of this too. Not that I travel a lot, but when I do, I need the pillow I like and am used to. It's just not worth it to have a poor night's sleep, or wake up the next day in pain. Imagine having a nasty headache for two days...
The person I'm thinking of right now is a good friend of mine. I remember when she was traveling somewhere with friends and needed her pillow. I kinda giggled at the time but soon realized how important it was once you find a good pillow.
For me it was the Cervical Traction Pillow. One reason I like it is that it looks like a regular pillow too. This way your friends won't bust your chops til no end about the weird pillow you have. This comes to mind because I've seen some really strange pillows out there.
