Research out of Penn State that both obesity and depression can be the underlying cause of daytime sleepiness. Is this a regular problem? Do you always feel tired during the day.
With obesity comes various health issues. For example, someone who is very much over-weight may have a condition like "sleep-apnea" which is hindering their sleep. That being said, individuals who are obese should get a full work up at their doctor's to determine if a particular health issue is the culprit.
People suffering depression may find it difficult to get to sleep and/or get back to sleep when they are awoken. Your family doctor will help you determine if a visit to the psychologist or psychiatrist is necessary.
