New research has shown that chronic stress can actually change your brain. The Karolinska Institute in Sweden released a study that shows how burnout and stress changes neural circuits in the brain which inhibits peoples coping abilities.
We know that sleep can cause problems sleeping too. It can therefore be a downward spiral. You sleep poorly, have bad dreams, breathe more shallow...and on.
My suggestion is to do whatever you can to change the stressful situation. Change the way you think about it, change your routine, change positions at work...whatever you have to do.
