Dear NPQ,
I am trying to decide if I should purchase the tricore orthopedic gentle or firm pillow? How do I make this choice?
-Emmett
Hi Emmett,
The TriCore pillow is a popular orthopedic neck pillow that we recommend. The standard size pillow has dimensions of 24" x17" - its comes in two levels of support: firm and gentle.
When you make this decision to choose firm or gentle, choose it based on your personal preference. If for example you like a pillow that is very firm, with no GIVE then choose the firm. One thing to note is that the firm pillow, is quite firm.
From past experience, if you are having neck pain, headaches, stiff neck, radiculopathy symptoms, pinched nerve etc, choose an overall softer, gentler pillow. It is overall easier to get used to with a shorter adjustment period to the pillow. If you have a lot of sensitivity sleeping on your side or back and need to ease into something, choose the gentle version of the pillow. If you need something even more gentle you may want to choose a pillow with less fiber such as the Natural alignment pillow.
If you are choosing a pillow for the first time and not really sure which one to choose, I am going to recommend the Gentle version of the tricore pillow. It is still a overall firmer pillow. Firmer than the arc4life gravity pillow and arc4life traction pillows. The difference between firm and gentle is subtle -but there is a difference. The gentle support tri core pillow contains less fiber, which decrease the height and firmness of the pillow.
Also, the tri core pillow will last longer than most fiber pillows because there is more fiber packed into the pillows. keep in For many customers there was an adjustment period to sleeping with this pillow (firm or gentle). If you have more questions about the TriCore Family of Pillows, please contact us. We are here to help.
